If you reside in Japan and haven’t already purchased a Mitsubishi i-MiEV or put your name down on the list for the Nissan Leaf, don’t fret because there’s yet another way that you can pilot one of these electric vehicles (EVs) by year’s end. Nissan and Mitsubishi just announced their intentions to set up a pilot car-sharing program in the Japanese city of Kyoto. As you may have already guessed, this car sharing program will feature the company’s electric carsbut just seven EVs will take part. Charging stations scattered throughout Kyoto will be networked together so that participants in the program can easily locate nearby chargers via cell phone. There’s no word on costs, nor have any further details regarding participation in the pilot program emerged. Now, we’re anxiously awaiting the day when both Nissan and Mitsubishi team up to announce something similar here.
