The American battery formation and test equipment manufacturer is showcasing its Model FTV. The high performance FTV system is the ideal solution for demanding electric and hybrid electric vehicle battery testing and being called the “industry standard” for cell and module testing.
As an expert in cell, module, and pack testing—especially for the EV/HEV market—Bitrode is presenting its first product on cars21.com. Bitrode’s systems, including the Model FTV, are particularly designed for superior performance in data-heavy environment, such as an EV/HEV laboratory. To ensure fast data collection and management the circuits run on high-speed networks, while a parallel circuit operation allows greater flexibility in test specifications. The FTV is able to test battery cells and modules and the discharged power is recycled to an AC line for a cooler, more energy-efficient operation.

Bitrode’s test solutions simulate the actions of the vehicle as it places demands on the batteries, allowing laboratories to drive simulations with standard electric vehicle tests, such as FUDS, SFUDS, GSFUDS, DST and ECE15L. It also runs proprietary programs based on the drive time data gathered from EV/HEV’s normal use.

In addition to Bitrode’s standard user-friendly VisuaLCN software suite, the company offers customized sophisticated control systems including National Instruments and A&D’s iTest advanced control and testing. The collaboration between Bitrode and A&D has been called “the new industry standard” and can be seen at GM’s Advanced Laboratory in Warren Michigan.

The A&D Technologies’ state-of-the-art iTest EV solution that includes LabMinder and iCentral—as used at GM’s Advanced Battery lab. This innovative system maximizes productivity while reducing hard costs and creates a redundant fail-safe laboratory with active error tracking and notification functionality that assists in the prevention of critical battery failure (including potential thermal events). Complete lab monitoring status— including chambers and other auxiliary equipment—and automated notification and lab surveillance cameras make off-site management easy.

This collaborative system maximizes systems and personnel by automating systems to achieve 24/7 operation utilizing only half the usual lab experts and equipment as would be needed with standard systems.
