The 80th edition of the Geneva International Motor Show will feature some 100 World and European Premiers. cars21.com will be reporting live from the press days starting tomorrow and inform about the 13 Premieres scheduled for electric vehicles alone.

With the motto “The future becomes the present in Geneva”, one of the biggest auto shows will open its doors tomorrow for the press and from 4 March for the general public. 250 exhibitors from 30 countries will be representing 700 brands on 78,000 m² of exhibition space. The organisers are expecting between 650,000 and 700,000 visitors during the eleven days that the show will be open to the public and approximately 10,000 media representatives from all over the world. All the press conferences will be filmed in “broadcast” quality and can be downloaded for free from the official website.

Electric vehicles begin to take centre stage also at the Geneva Motor Show. 13 World and European Premiers are the best proof that with an increasing focus on sustainability, electric vehicles have made a discreet entry on to the stages of the big auto shows.

The Green Pavilion: Where the future can be tested today

Since last year, the old Hall 3 at Palexpo has become the Green Pavilion, an area entirely dedicated to “the vehicles of the future”, including mainly EVs and PHEVs. The suppliers, equipment specialists, and other exhibitors will also unveil some 40 Premiers of their own. The Green Pavilion lifts the covers from projects and prototypes for the future and also provides the opportunity to test drive some of the models available today.

The electric Mini, the battery-powered HydroGen4 from Opel, an electric model from the Korean firm KIA, a city EV car by the Croatian company DOK-ING or the electric-powered two-seater Tazzari-Zero are just some examples of the wide range of EVs that will be displayed at the Green Pavilion. To demonstrate that green energies are not incompatible with high performance or driving pleasure, two sports cars will be featured as well: the all-electric GreenGT developed near Lausanne and the PHEV sports car Quaranta from Italdesign Giugiaro. In addition, the Swiss company TEXX will present their recharging stations for electric vehicles that are announced to be the most powerful in the world.
