The US-based number one supplier of intelligent fast-charging systems worldwide is joining cars21.com as a Bronze partner to present its company as well as its Level III stations. The advanced intelligent charging stations are able to fully charge EV batteries within less than 30 minutes.
Building on a decade of experience as the leader in fast charging technology, Aker Wade Power Technologies designs, manufactures and services advanced fast charging systems for electric vehicles. Aker Wade engineers have designed a range of lithium-ion fast chargers with advanced power electronics and web interfaced control systems with outputs from 36 to 80 kilowatts. Founded in 2000, the company already has over 10,000 fast chargers powering the forklift fleets of such customers as GE, GM, Honda, Toyota, DHL, Unilever, Johnson Controls, Toys-R-Us, and Johnson & Johnson.

Aker Wade is working with leading battery companies, EV makers, EV network implementers and research institutions on high value projects to ensure a reliable and efficient network across different sectors. This is seen as a main prerequisite in order to operate electric vehicle fleets more efficiently, increase productivity and reduce costs at the same time, improve safety, and cut greenhouse emissions.

Agreements with Coulomb Technologies and TEPCO

In January this year, Aker Wade announced an agreement with Coulomb Technologies to deploy Level III networked fast-charging stations for EVs worldwide. The charging stations will be co-developed, distributed, marketed and supported by both companies. In addition, they will be designed in accordance with the TEPCO Level III specifications and qualified for use with several electric vehicle brands.

Also beginning 2010, Aker Wade concluded a license agreement to incorporate Tokyo Electric Power Company’s (TEPCO) patented technology as the first U.S. manufacturer. The agreement includes the manufacturing and marketing of Level III DC fast chargers for EVs.

Reactions

Aker Wade CEO Bret Aker stated: “We are excited to be a partner of cars21.com. This is an important venue for stakeholders in the electric vehicle space to share information. With our fast charging technologies launching in 3 continents this year it is critical that we get the word out to the industry.”

Coming next

Soon, cars21.com will publish an interview with Bret Aker, CEO and founder of Aker Wade, to talk about future developments in the EV market and the role of infrastructure. Shortly after, the company will be presenting its Level III chargers with all technical specifications as well as future projects on cars21.com.
