In our weekly scan of original Japanese media, this time we give you a short overview on innovations presented at the ENEX 2010, the 34th Energy and Environment Exhibition, that was held at the Tokyo Big Sight Centre from 14-16 July. ![]() Spectris presented T12, a high precision measurement system for torque and revolution speed, which can minimise torque signal derivation in relation to temperature fluctuation and help develop more efficient motors. The rotor of the measurement system is fed by the stator through an inductive system without any mechanical contact. The strain gage measuring bridge in the rotor is fed by a carrier frequency source to provide excellent properties with regard to signal quality and high measurement accuracy. Digital data transmission between rotor and stator makes the measurement system very robust against interference. The systems allows the filtering and scaling of signals, measurement and output of rotor temperature, internal backup of extrema of the torque, rotational speed and temperature signal as well as storage of calibration data. Quick charger by Sinfonia Sinfonia Technologies Co. (former Shinko Electric Co. Ltd) showcased the prototype of its new quick charger that offers two 25 kW charging bases for one power source. With regular charging stations, there is normally one charger per power source with only one plug so that EV drivers who want to charge need to queue until the EV in front has finished the charging process. Sinfonia's new charger on the other hand offers two plugs where the next to be charged EV can already be plugged in and the charging process will start automatically when the first one has finished. Normally, one EV is being charged with both charging bases together at 50 kW. If need be, however, two EVs can also be simultaneously charged at 25 kW each. Sinfonia's charger furthermore is conceived in a way that it can be placed 10m away from the power source. Together with its compact form, this allows to fit it into available narrow spaces. The charger measures 950x440x1794 mm and weighs 650kg.
