Over the last 10 days, China has hosted two major electric vehicle events uniting experts from the global EV industry and related fields. cars21.com has been among them and reports on technical developments in general and China's move in particular.

China has overtaken Japan as second economy in the world in 2008 and has overtaken the US as biggest automotive market in sales in 2009. If e-bikes were included in the definition of electric vehicles, China is already today by far the largest EV market in the world, with millions of e-bikes sold every year.

Now, China is clearly showing intentions of becoming number 1 in the EV market as well and has put together a national strategy to boost the uptake of EVs and PHEVs. A number of large-scale demonstration projects are carried out and impressive amounts of money are invested into research and development.

The 2nd EV Li-ion Battery Forum 2010 organised by Dufresne in Beiijing from 25-26 August and the 2010 International Vehicle Battery Summit organised by the SAE International in Shanghai from 1-3 September clearly demonstrate the growing importance of China in the global EV arena.     The 2010 New Energy Vehicle Technology & Investment Congress from 2-3 September 2010, will discuss new governmental support policies, technical advances in production as well as provide a detailed overview of the most up-to-date project developments across China.
